My Poems
1)
2)
Fire
You can hear her
Protesting softly in the corner.
Her lingering taste of spices,
Cinnamon and clove,
Dancing on your tongue.
Look over your shoulder to see her flaming, uncontrollable hair.
Swirling around and around
Spirals sticking about.
She crackles out her conversation.
Feel her passion
Tickling your hands,
Burning once she’s gone.
You smell nature,
The scent of wood,
Whenever you inhale.,
She is all around you
Whilst sitting in the corner
2)
Anthropophobia
People are scared of many different things
Spiders
Snakes
Small spaces
Tests
But what if you were scared
Of the very essence of your being
What if you were afraid
Terrified
Paralyzed by fear
What if you were afraid
Of the very people you’re near?
What if you were shrinking in on yourself
Caving in to find an escape
To be rid of all these humans
Pressing in around you
What if you had thought you had claustrophobia?
But then realised
It was just all the people
That it just felt like the people were pressing in
Taking your air
The very oxygen you breathe
Instead of the walls?
What if every night
You lay awake
Gasping in the only air
That wasn’t made thick
By the presence of others?
What if every morning
As you arose from the fog of sleep
You gripped the sheets
Not wanting to leave the only place populated
By only you?
What if you had to choke back tears
Feel their pressure building up behind your eyes
Every second you weren’t alone
And what if, though better than nothing,
What if there were only three people you could be around without choking?
Three, sometimes four depending on the day?
Would you still be so afraid of everything else?
