Describe what you liked about the coil process of building:

I liked how simple the process was, and how easy it was/is to get the shape you need. Since fresh clay is used, there is no need for slipping and scoring every coil, which saves time and also makes the process simpler. With the help of the template, you do not have to be worried about getting the shape perfect while adding coils, and it is easier to correct any mistakes.

Describe your frustrations:

The higher up in the vase you got, the harder it was to apply the template due to the top (of the template) bending more. However, this was my fault and easily fixable, as I could've added another popsicle stick for support.

Did your original idea change? If yes what changes occurred?

My original idea changed a little bit, with the neck ending up wider, but I like this more.

How could you have constructed better?

I think that by adding another popsicle stick for support to the top of the template would've helped the construction,
as one side of the neck curves a bit before the other.

Glaze Record:
PC - 30 Temmoku
PC - 21 Arctic Blue

Glaze application:

3 layers of PC - 30 Temmoku (under)
3 layers of PC - 21 Arctic Blue (over)

Describe your final result.  Was it what you expected? (better or worse)

It was mostly as I expected. The darker spots of glaze ended up more blue than brown (as was shown in the picture), but I like it better, as it is more subtle and goes with the colours more.
How could you you have glazed better?

I could have created a smoother end to the glaze on the foot, and made it a bit closer to the edge, but I didn't want to have it drip onto the kiln.

How could the teacher have taught the unit better?

A class on decorations might have been useful for some, even though we went over it during the tripod vessel unit, and I personally like my vase better without, I think that some might have appreciated that. I also understand that we ran out of time...
