Work #1 The Surprise of an Ephemeral Life
Student Name: Abbey Foreman
School:TAS
Medium: Oil paint and yarn
Work #2 Wrath
Student Name: Brianna Poot
School: JIS
Medium: Digital Paint
Work #1 Reflection
Describe the use of Pattern that is unique and interesting.

I found the use of yarn to be quite unique. Though there were a few other pieces with extra paper layers or a piece of string, this was the only piece I saw that had elements really coming off of the canvas. The unexpected fluffiness of the yarn really helps create that element of surprise, and adds to the name (The Surprise of....)
Work #2 Reflection
Describe the use of color that is unique and interesting.

The use of red in this piece is perfect, as it really adds to the mood. The piece is called Wrath, and when we see red, we often think of anger. The fact that the rest of the room is in normal colours helps the red on the wolves stand out, and show that they are the ones who are angry.

Work #3  Unique subject matter
Work #4  Sculptural technique/Material (Insert Photo)
Work #3 Infestation
Student Name: Beatrice Santos
School: ISKL
Medium: Pigment Liner

Work #4 Beautifying Death
Student Name: Irene Cheung
School: TAS
Medium: Acrylic, Fabric, Paper Clay.
Work #3 Reflection
Describe what made the subject matter unique or interesting to you.

I like this piece as there is no set subject. Most of the pieces have some kind of subject, whether it be a person, guitar, building or something else. This was one of the few, if not the only piece I found without something like that. I think that this is pretty creative, and I love the detail that's gone into this.

Work #4 reflection
Describe the student’s use of technique or Material.

The use of paper clay helps give the flowers and skin the appearance of their real selves. It looks like the texture of flower petals and the texture of skin. The red acrylic stands out well against the pure white of the clay. I like how Cheung has tried to make something so many people fear into something beautiful.
Your overall favorite
The Past, Present, & Future
Student Name: Siqi (Eric) Yang
School: ISM
Medium: Print
Describe why you have picked this as your favorite.  Use art vocabulary (detail, texture, color, pattern…)
I love how simple this appears, yet how complex it is when you look closer. The meaning behind this (each person representing either the past, present, or future) is very creative, as is the way the piece is laid out. I like how the simple detail of the lines on the roof and posts adds a new level, and almost gives a wood like appearance/texture. The curved lines create a soft, peaceful feel to the piece that I enjoy.
